I am assisting in the 3rd/4th grade.

I have been at Akiba-Schechter since:

March 2011

Education/degrees:

BS in General Studies
30 graduate credits in Jewish Studies
Post-Baccalucerate teaching degree (highly qualified under NCLB)

I like to teach because:

I love to see the development of the children over the course of the year.

My favorite part of teaching is:

Those "ah ha" moments when a chid "gets" a concept, especially when their "getting it" causes them to rethink how they see the world.

I became a teacher because:

I, myself, am learning disabled and despite being educated in one of the best school systems in the US I felt that I was a complete failure. Due to these experiences I spent my adult years in an attempt to improve education for all children.

I'm known by my students for:

Great storytelling and great explanations of difficult concepts.

When I'm not teaching, I

Am still teaching. I teach Hebrew school, I teach swimming, I teach lifeguarding and as a parent I am always teaching my daughter.
